The Resilience of the Human Spirit
I was learning to fly. Oscar, my old blood & guts retired Air Force pilot decided I needed a lesson. He yanked that yoke straight back and we went into a horrifying spin. Terrified, I held the stick close to my chest and started saying my goodbye prayers.
Oscar yelled, “LET IT GO, Beth, LET IT GO!”
My brain froze. I didn’t let go. I couldn’t let go. We kept spiraling towards our inevitable doom.
Oscar’s hoarse whisper echoed in my ear, “Beth. Let go. Let go.”
I let go.
The plane righted itself none to soon, and it flew.
I looked at Oscar in shock and awe… and he said, “Planes are built to fly. Ya just have to let’em.”
Humans are like that. We are built to fly. We pull our life closely to our chest and shake in terror at the boogeyman: the news, the thing that “might have happened, could happen, didn’t happen to us but to someone else.” We fear the unknown future because we have never been here before.
And, when we finally unclench our fists; when we finally take a breath; when we finally Let Go, we fly.
What have you done today to make it possible for you to fly?
You are built to succeed.
Succeed.

Thanks Andrea and Terry! Great to hear from you both. It’s a wild ride right now – and we’ve all got to take a deep breath and do the things we know how to do, Yet find that balance where we stay detached enough to be smart about our next steps.
Good luck!
Beth
Good story, Beth! Sometimes when we try too hard to “fly the plane” we forget that it is designed to not only fly but provide safety for us. Sometimes the letting go part is the most difficult — and the most important. Thanx for the reminder and the story.
I love Beth’s message! Face your fears, look to the future, and spread your able wings and FLY! Fly like you’ve never flown before, with all your heart and all your might! It’s your life, and no one can live it like you can!
TO everyone’s life success,
Andrea Gold,
