Recipe For Greatness

January 4, 2009

Wonderful thought from Zane Grey to kickstart your 2009 plan for Success and ride out this weird economy:

“To bear up under loss;
To fight the bitterness of defeat and the weakness of grief;
To be victor over anger;
To smile when tears are close;
To resist disease, evil men, and base instincts;
To hate hate and love Love;
To go on when it would seem good to die;
To look up with unquenchable Faith in something ever more about to be.
That is what anyone can do and be Great.”

Zane Grey (1872-1939)

I share this with you because, even though Grey is famous for creating much of the myths and legends of the American West, he also ran into seemingly insurmountable obstacles. It is well known he frequently questioned his ability to succeed and to survive. In some ways, he went through what many of us are going through today: looking for ways to ride out this storm and tap into resources we never knew we had.

Grey once said, “I don’t know which way to turn. I cannot decide what to write next. That which I desire to write does not seem to be what the editors want…I am full of stories and zeal and fire…yet I am inhibited by doubt, by fear that my feeling for life is false”.

Keep in mind this man went on to write 110 films, numerous novels and articles, and is credited with elevating the life of the cowboy to romantic status.

Don’t give up on your Dreams! Don’t give up on YOU.

To Your Greatness!
