We’re getting there
My new website is finally (almost) completely functional. Still a few things to fix – the store, some articles, the newsletter archives… But it’s getting there. The creative process is – a process. Three steps forward, two sideways, five back, two to the right. Frustrating and exhilarating at the same time. Who knew the DNS server would take so long? My voice mail is packed with concerned messages about bounced emails. And now I’m learning a new email system. Making me cross-eyed.
I’m an ol’ lady on the internet. Registered my first domain more than a decade ago. This is the 7th remodel, and probably the most radical change. In a few short days I’ll give up the ghost on Corporate Cowgirl and embrace Cactus Wrangler. I think sometimes we resist these changes because there’s some fiction in our brains that things are permanent.
I was so devastated when I learned that someone else had trademarked Corporate Cowgirl. I didn’t want to deal with thinking of something new. But this has been fun and a good exercise. I really do focus mostly in finding resilience. And the Cactus theme is perfect. And – I’ve changed it 6 other times before – so what’s the big deal?
Some cool things have happened along this route. Tamara Petterson, the new Corporate Cowgirl, is great. We’ve become friends during this process. So, if your RSS feed is still on Corporate Cowgirl next week, you’ll get to meet her and her horses.
I apologize if it gets a little confusing over the next week or so. I’ve never done this kind of a switchover. So there will be some bumps. I hope you’ll stick with me and renew your RSS feed as soon as the switch is complete. We’ll keep you posted!
Thanks to my intrepid Webmaster Grant Holmes and my Blogging Goddess, Tia Graham. If you’re looking for help on your website or your blog, they’re the ones to call!
I’ll keep you posted,
Beth
