Update on Larry Colbert and Banner the Wonder Dog!
Hi All – thanks for the notes on this blog and to my other email addresses. This just goes to show that people really do want to hear good news!
Larry and Banner were on TV in Phoenix last night, and will be again tonight. Channel 5 – KPHO, at 10pm.
He and Banner are doing great. Banner is loving the attention, and Larry is hard at work answering the hundreds of emails he’s received from all over the world. He has received emails from Bucharest, Germany, and even China!
Go check out his website for current updates. This kind of attention couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. . . Now let’s help him get on Oprah and Leno!
Happy in Phoenix,

Eileen – what a cool thing to do. I wish I could have seen the faces of the SW employees when you showed up with all those goodies! Very cool! Thanks for sharing!
I know that the employees did it because their culture encourages it, but I also know that they *didn’t* do it in hopes that it would make an entire association of 4,500 seasoned travelers want to travel with them. But that’s what happened. The buzz on all the listservs in our speaking industry is that when given a choice, Southwest is their #1 choice. SWA took care of two of our favorite travelers, and we want to take care of them. Very cool.
Pete – glad you stumbled onto this too! Thanks for your note.

This is a great story. Thanks for sharing. What a great dog. His loyalty to his master is not only heartwarming, it’s a good lesson for us all. Thanks for this blog. Glad I stumbled onto it!
I do not know how to individually thank each of the employees involved (there were actually eight of them!), so decided to recognize their heroic act with a small but heartfelt gift for the entire crew.
Just got back from delivering two cookie bouquets, in the shapes of labrador retriever heads and SW Airline planes, to their supervisor at Sky Harbor Airport. These were accompanied by bags of heartshaped dog cookies for them to share with their own fabulous furkids. In addition, I will be making a donation to a charity of Larry & Banner’s choice in the name of Southwest Airlines. Hardly seems like enough.
The compassion and quick thinking of Troy, Tammy, Michelle et al shines a bright light on the airline industry… one that is usually fraught with negative stories focusing on security issues, delayed flights,
rude or inappropriate employees, etc.
I have recently begun to travel more extensively for both personal and busines reasons. It goes without saying (so I’ll type it instead!) that as a result of their obviously caring and capable team, I will be making it a point to patronize Southwest Airlines whenever possible.
Warmest personal regards,
